It’s been a little over two years since I started my “location-flexible life,” otherwise known as being a digital nomad. So it seems like a good time to reflect—sum up the pros and cons, think about what I’ve learned, and gather my thoughts for the future. When I tell people about my life as a digital nomad, questions I often hear are, “don’t you get lonely?” and “How do you stand going to a place where you don’t know anyone?”

My answer is: not so far, and it’s easier than ever to stay in touch with old friends and make new friends. The world is small.

From Seattle to Tucson

My six-month stay in Seattle ended on October 31st. On November 1st I flew to Tucson with the goal of finding a short-term apartment to rent for the winter. Mission accomplished — I found an apartment with a 7-month lease (with the possibility of leaving early for a fee of $195). My new lease begins on January 1st.
